MONTGOMERY’S POPULAR LIVE AT THE UNI RETURNS THIS FALL
Free Series Showcases Montgomery Musicians
This music series, new in 2010, was so popular that the city will repeat the series this Fall, featuring well-known area musicians and residents of Montgomery, plus post-concert receptions courtesy of Stone Creek Dining Co.

The concert series, held in the historic Universalist Church in the heart of Old Montgomery, begins Tuesday, September 20 with a performance by Les Deux, a piano-vocal duo featuring songstress and Montgomery resident Jane French and pianist Karla Mitchell. Jane French is an Emmy-nominated composer and singer, best known for her theme song to NBC’s show, Passions. Karla Mitchell has performed for audiences across the country for more than 25 years. They will perform classic jazz standards.

On Tuesday, October 4, the duo of violist Steve Rosen and guitarist Richard Goering will perform a high-energy concert of Klezmer music and other classics. Rosen, a resident of Montgomery, is a long-time member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Goering has performed as a guitarist professionally throughout the country, and is well-known around Cincinnati.

On Tuesday, October 18, the series will bring back jazz pianist Kim Pensyl, teaming up with vibraphonist Rusty Burge. Both men are members of the Jazz Studies Department at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, and both are residents of Montgomery.

All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. and last about an hour. Following each concert, a reception with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drink specials will be held at Stone Creek Dining Co., just a short walk from the church.

The Universalist Church was the first National Register Building in Hamilton County. It houses many of its original furnishings, including the pulpit, benches, organ, and lighting fixtures.
